Leave of Absence (LOA)

F-1 students may be authorized to be temporarily absent from the program if they have a verifiable medical condition.

How to request the authorization?

please submit the required documents below to DSO@mccollege.edu. Please allow at least 4 to 5 business days to process the request. Students who submit their request will receive a notification when the process is finalized.

  • Doctor's note:

Must be from licensed medical doctor, doctor of osteopathy, or licensed clinical psychologist

Must explain the medical condition and why absence is recommended

  • Tuition Receipt for the term LOA is requested 

Important Reminders

  • The duration of the authorization is 1 term, if your medical condition continues, you must request a new authorization
  • A leave of absence can be authorized up to 12 months in one academic level
  • A normal pregnancy/delivery without any complications is not a medical condition warranting a leave of absence. If you are requesting the leave of absence due to your pregnancy or expected delivery, please make sure your doctor includes specific medical complications related to the note
